5 Incumbents File For Council Reelection; 2 Will Face Opponents

By Carol Arnett

All five incumbents up for reelection for the Florissant City Council are running again, but only two will face opposition in the April municipal elections.

The last day to file packets to be on the ballot was Tuesday, Jan. 17. Florissant City Clerk Karen Goodwin has received filing packets from all incumbents, plus two other candidates. The packets contain the paperwork required to file, including petitions with at least 200 signatures.

This year, council members from all odd numbered wards are elected. Councilmen Tim Lee (Ward 1), Joe Eagan (Ward 3), and Kieth Schildroth (Ward 5) will run unopposed. Eagan campaigned against two others last year to fill  Mayor Tom Schneider’s vacant seat.

In Ward 7, Councilwoman Karen McKay will face challenger Jackie Pagano. In Ward 9, Councilman Ben Hernandez will face challenger Mike Bober. McKay has been on the council the longest of the candidates. Tim Lee has been on the second longest, followed by Schildroth (more information all the candidates will be forthcoming, prior to the election on April 3.)
