Naval Flag Flies over the James J. Eagan Center
In Honor of 70th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day
A flag that flew over the USS Cape St. George CG-71 during her previous deployment to the Persian Gulf last spring was flown over the James J. Eagan Center on Dec. 7 The day marks the 70th anniversary of the Day of Infamy when Japanese naval and air forces attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941.
It so happens that the USS Cape St. George departed that same day to escort the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN-72 to circumnavigate the globe by way of duty in the Persian Gulf, the Suez Canal, Norfolk, VA and the Panama Canal. The Lincoln will convert from a West Coast Carrier to an East Coast Carrier based in Norfolk VA.
The flag was a gift to the Mayor Schneider’s office from the ship and was delivered to Florissant by Chief Petty Officer Zachary Schneider who will redeploy with the ship Wednesday from San Diego, CA. CPO Schneider is Mayor Schneider’s son
