Florissant Celebrates 225th-Photos of event

225th BIRTHDAY CAKE: There were several decorated cakes honoring the city’s 225th anniversary from Krause Katering and Kakes and Dierberg’s. Alaska Klondike provided the coffee, sponsored by the new Bridge at Florissant, opening next month. The free cake and coffee was offered at the Schoolhouse, next to the Shrine.  Many came over for dessert from the Fish Fry, held at the Knights of Columbus Hall.  Bob Lindsey photo

FLORISSANT PLAQUE HONORS ST. ROSE PHILIPPINE DUCHESNE:  Florissant added two more names and plaques to the city’s Walk of Fame that starts on rue St. Francois, near New Florissant Road.  Here, Mayor Tom Schneider presents some details about the life Saint Rose and her years at the shrine. Afterwards there was a Feast Day Mass in her honor at the Shrine. Earlier, the mayor had dedicated another plaque about two blocks away for Father Pierre, Jean DeSmet. David Counts photo
