By Randy Gardner
Here is a crazy question for you, but when you go to get an ice cream cone, what kind of cone do you get? Is it Rocky Road, is it Chocolate Chip, is it something crazy? if not and you just get a plain vanilla cone, then the St. Louis Rams are right in your wheelhouse.
They play the simplest game in the world, not very exciting and so straight forward. Yesterday was like watching paint dry. I dozed off about three times. Luckily, the NASCAR race was on and that kept me awake throughout the day.
I know I complain about the same things every darn week but am I the only one that is seeing this. Even Sam Bradford is being affected by the game plan; he hasn’t looked sharp at all over the past few weeks especially this week. It is also a shame that the Rams could be 2-7 and playing for a stake of 2nd place in the division.
The fans are doing exactly what I had talked about a few weeks ago and that is completely turn their backs on this team, when the camera pulled out on a long shot of the Dome, it looked almost empty in the upper bowl. I hate to be so darn negative about the football season, but as a fan,
I want something better. I want to be excited to sit down and watch the game. I want my kids to be excited about watching the game with me. Right now, that isn’t happening.
At least on Sunday, AI was able to sit and relax and watch the end of the NASCAR season, which came down to an exciting duel between Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart and switch back and forth to the finals of the MLS Cup between David Beckham and the LA Galaxy and the Houston Dynamo.
The place was completely packed and it was a nail biter as Landon Donovan, an American born player scored the only goal to win the Cup for Beckham as he will probably go back oversees and finish his career. It is great to see soccer thrive in the United States at this level.
I really wish we could have a team here in St. Louis, not over in Illinois somewhere but here in St. Louis. Charge reasonable prices to get in and fill the place up every game that would be great. Probably never happen but we can all have wishes.
A Thanksgiving Message to All
Finally, it is amazing that another year has already gone by and it is Thanksgiving once again. It is that time of year to give thanks for everything we have in our lives. Stop and think, this is not about what we have as possessions but what we have as humans which are love and friendship.
I thank everyone for reading my column for all of these years and to everyone who sent me cards during my recent health scare. I want to say thank you to my family for all of the joys that they bring to me.
We are all blessed in so many ways. Stop and enjoy yourselves on Thanksgiving, never let anyone stand in the way of your dreams no matter what they are. Remember, the people who are where you want to be at in life are the ones that have usually worked their tails off to get there. Happy Thanksgiving and happy shopping for the Holidays.
