Instant Replay Would Have Aided U.S. Soccer Team to Advance Further

BY RANDY GARDNER

On the whole I consider myself to be a pretty average level-headed guy but after watching the World Cup , I have believe something  needs to be done. I’m not sure what, but something needs to be done.

The whole idea of not having instant replay is just complete insanity to me. I don’t understand why you would not do something that totally clarifies the situation whether it’s in soccer, football, baseball, or hockey, this is a remedy that would totally clarify any mishap.

There have been several games that instant replay could have made a big difference, including the United States game, when we were not allowed a goal which would have made the game 3 to 2 and a  win over Slovakia.

Instead the United States had to fight for a win in the 92nd minutes just to advance. If the goal would have been reviewed, we would have seen that there were no fouls committed on the United States squad, just the U.S. being held like crazy in the box.

We have to be sensible though with the use of it, only on goals and horrible fouls.

Argentina Looks Like The Best Team

I actually think that Argentina has the best chance of winning this tournament I made that decision after I saw them play the first game of the tournament under Diego Maradona, one of the best players in the world. Now he’s becoming one of the best coaches. He has a bit of an insane style of coaching but I think he gets the best out of his players and that is definitely evident in this World Cup

I want to give kudos to the United States of America soccer team as they advanced to the final round of 16. They played well against Ghana but not good enough to beat them. I don’t understand why in every match looking back all the way back to eight years ago they give up a goal early and have to fight back and this was  evident in this World Cup.The U.S.  they found themselves  in the same situation in every game and against Ghana that they just couldn’t pull themselves out of it.

The lack of speed in the mid-field especially during the first half and passing during the first half of the game was horrible.  In the second half it was much better, as they completed the most passes in one game, more than ever have but it wasn’t enough to advance to the next round.

And to round out my column this week, coming off such hot weather over the past few weeks. It’s a great time this week with all the nice weather to get out and do some exercise, whether it’s running, walking, or jogging.  Just get out of the house and enjoy an early morning walk or a late night walk, Go by yourself or take the whole family just get out and do a little bit of exercise, It will change your mood and make you much healthier. A few little steps will go a long way to a lifetime of happiness and healthiness.
