3 Florissant Officers Promoted; Capt. Burke Retires

  Mayor Tom Schneider has announced the following officers have been promoted to various ranks within the police department.  Lieutenant Sean Fagan has been promoted to the rank of Captain.  Sergeant Vince Godfrey has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  Detective Rick Pfaff has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

“I would just like to express my sincere congratulations to all three who have outstanding leadership qualities and professional skills that will contribute to the continued success of our award winning Police Department” the mayor said in a statement.

Captain Jerry Burke recently announced his retirement after 28 years of service to the city.

“His professionalism and dedication to duty have been an inspiration to the department,” the mayor said. “He was hired as a patrolman and rose through the ranks to be promoted to captain in 2001. During his tour of duty with Florissant he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s degree in Criminal Justice.

“He has been a good Officer and friend and will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family,”the mayor continued.  Captain Burke’s father Jerry Burke Sr. is  retired as the Normandy Police chief and is currently recovering from open heart surgery at St. Johns Mercy Medical Center.
