Filing Opens For Florissant Mayor, Municipal Judge Posts; Ward 4 Seat

Candidates seeking nomination for mayor or municipal judge for the City of Florissant for the April 3, 2007 election may obtain the necessary forms from the city clerk on or after Jan. 3, at Florissant City Hall, on Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Candidates must follow these guidelines:

•registered voter of the city
•resident for two years immediately prior to the date of the election
•at least 25 years old
•obtain signatures of at least 500 registered Florissant voters

Petitions and affidavits must be returned to the city clerk no earlier than Jan. 3, and no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The affidavit must be signed by the candidate for mayor notarized. The affidavit will be signed and the tine and date recorded by the city clerk. The petitions must be signed by the candidate obtaining the signatures, but need not be notarized.

Names will appear on the ballot in the order of filing.

The city clerk is not a notary and cannot accept the affidavit unless it has been notarized.

WARD 4 CITY COUNCIL SEAT-Feb. 6 election –

There are three candidates for the council seat in Ward 4 vacated by Geri Debo. Michael Barry, Keith English and Matt Mueller have filed and will be on the ballot for a special Feb. 6 election.

Debo resigned and moved to St. Charles County in the fall. She had defeated Mueller two years ago to earn re-election.
