Flower Valley Quilting Guild’s Biennial Show Set Sept. 24-25

The Flower Valley Quilting Guild will hold its 14th biennial show on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 1285 New Florissant Road.

The show will feature more than 300 quilted items including full-size quilts, wall hangings, miniatures and clothing. Also featured: quilting demonstrations as well as exhibits of challenge projects and quilts made by children. Quilt appraisals will be available, and special guided tours will be given at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6 for those 18 and over.

Judy Luebke Kooi of Florissant, a member of the guild since 1987, will be the featured quilter in a special display of her work. A frequent award winner, she is known for her expert use of color, her creative approach to design, and her quilts that celebrate nature and children. A past president of the guild, she led its 25th anniversary celebration in 2010.

The guild will also hold a drawing for a raffle quilt on Sunday afternoon. The quilt, “Canyon Dance,” was made by guild members Laura Kaiser, Sandy Panagos, Jan Schuett, and Valerie Rigdon and quilted by Sally Reardon. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the door during the quilt show.

The Atonement Men’s Club Barbecue wagon will be available for meals and concessions during both days of the show.
