Hazelwood Central Girls, Hazelwood West Boys Win Track Invitationals

High School Track & Field teams from the Hazelwood School District and Ferguson-Florissant School District went out of St. Louis County to compete in April 8 Invitationals.

In the end the Hazelwood Central Girls and the Hazelwood West Boys won separate invitationals.

In Cedar Hill-Jefferson County the Hazelwood Central Girls won the Northwest High Invitational while in Wentzville-St. Charles County the Hazelwood West Boys won the Timberland Wolfpack Invitational.

At Northwest Hazelwood Central Girls scored 156 points, 54 better than runner up Lafayette (102) while Francis Howell (94).

At Timberland Hazelwood West Boys scored 102 points, 41 better than runner-up Columbia-Battle (81) and Owensville was third (76).

   HAZELWOOD CENTRAL GIRLS won 11 events including three relays — 4×100 Meters (47.78 seconds), 4×200 Meters (1:41.78) and 4×400 Meters (3:57.11). Junior Deja Ingram, who was on the winning 4×100 and 4×400 Relay teams, won the 100-Meter Dash in 11.92 seconds and 200-Meter Dash in 23.81 seconds.

Sophomore Danielle Frank won the 400-Meter Dash (58.44 seconds) while competing in the 4×200 and 4×400 Relays, junior Aisha Southern won the 100-Meter Hurdles (15.41 seconds) while anchoring the 4×100 and 4×200 Relays and senior Destiney Nash won the 300-Meter Hurdles (45.75 seconds) and anchored the 4×400 Relay. Senior Brittney Johnson, who was on the 4×100 Relay was second to Ingram in the 100 Dash (111.93 seconds) while senior Si’arra Forrest was on the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 Relays.

In Field Events senior Shauniece O’Neal won the Shot Put (38 feet, 11.5 inches) and Discus (136 feet, 10 inches), each on her final attempt while senior Kasandra Sanders-pitts won the High Jump, the only one to clear Five Feet. Junior Aniyah Stiles was second in the Triple Jump (34’3”) and fourth in the Long Jump (15’6”), junior Taylor Ramsey was second in Long Jump (16 Feet) and freshman Evyn Edwards was third in the Discus (113’4”).

HAZELWOOD WEST BOYS — Senior Erion Stevenson won the 300-Meter Intermediate Hurdles (40.55 seconds) and participated in the winning 4×400 Relay Team (3:28) and the third-place 4×200 Relay Team (1:32.91). Senior Sean Hamadziripi helped the winning 4×800-Meter Relay Team (8:33.01) while finishing second in the 3,200-Meter Run (10:23.97). Freshman Justin Robinson, who was on the winning 4×400 and 4×800 Relay Teams, finished second at 400 Meters (51.4 seconds).

Aaron Holmes, who competed in the 4×200 Relay, finished second in the 110-Meter High Hurdles (16 seconds) and in the 300 Intermediate Hurdles (41.78 seconds), Senior Krishon Merriweather, was third in the Discus (133’1”), junior Bryan Carroll was third in the 800-Meter Run (2:07.06) and senior Jonathan Daugherty finished fourth at 800 Meters (2:09.01).
