FEMA Opens Disaster Recovery Center in Ferguson
FEMA has opened a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Cottonwood Plaza, 10427 West Florissant Ave., Ferguson, to help those whose homes or businesses were affected by recent storms and tornadoes. On May 9,, the President issued a major disaster declaration for the State of Missouri to help individuals and communities recover from the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding beginning on April 19, , and continuing.
The center’s hours of operation will be Mondays through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Monday, May 16 and until further notice: Monday through Saturday – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Representatives from FEMA housing and individual assistance and mitigation programs will be available, along with the U.S. Small Business Administration to explain assistance programs and help those affected apply for disaster aid. Recovery specialists also can help with referral information to other assistance programs. Before visiting the DRC, people are encouraged to register with FEMA.
SBA low interest disaster assistance loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.
Businesses of any size and private non-profit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets.
Before visiting a DRC, people are encouraged to register with FEMA online at www.DisasterAssistance.govor call 800-621-FEMA (3362). Those with speech or hearing impairment may call (TTY) 800-462-7585. Help is available in most languages.
Persons affected by the storms can also apply for federal assistance directly through a Web-enabled mobile device or smartphone by visiting m.fema.gov.
