This column lists events for the senior citizens of Florissant and North County. Note that some of the activities are for Florissant residents only. For more information, call the Florissant Senior Office at 839-7604 or 839-7605, unless otherwise noted.

Feb.  25  Dance at Eagan Center

A dance will be held on Friday Feb. 25 at the James J. Eagan Center from 7-10 p.m.  Residents and non-residents are invited.  The Alley Kats will be playing.  Cost is $6, which covers admission and snacks.  Beer, wine and soda are available for purchase.

Silver Words Club program, March 3

Dr. Roxanne Deleau speak on “An Active Mind is a Healthy Mind” on Thursday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at the Eagan Center. Deleau is a geriatric Cognition Expert and will teach ways to keep our mind healthy as we age.

St. Patrick’s Lunch/Bingo, March 10

St. Patrick’s Lunch & Bingo will be held on Thursday, March 10, at 10:15 a.m. at the James J. Eagan Center.  This event is for Florissant residents only. Cost is $7. Gary Bennett will sing Irish Songs.  Kraus Katering will provide a corned beef and cabbage lunch, followed by Bingo. Tickets are at the Florissant Senior Office in Florissant City Hall.

Fox Theatre Tour/Lunch, May 21

Tour of the Fox Theatre and lunch at the Lafayette Fire Company No. 1 – a firehouse grill on Saturday, May 21. The cost is $27 ($29 for non-residents) and includes transportation, tour of theatre, organ music and lunch. Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, April 5 at the Florissant Senior Dining Center, from 9-11 a.m., for residents with a current resident card.  The second registration date will be Tuesday, April 12 from 9-11 a.m.

Adult Club of Florissant will meet at 11 a.m. at the James Eagan Center, lower level second Tuesday of the month Must be a Florissant resident with ID card. Membership fee for club is $10 annually. Call Norman Loebs at 921-0037.

Monday-Wednesday Bingo Club meets

weekly, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at the James J. Eagan Center.

Senior dances are held every Tuesday at the Savoy in Downtown Ferguson, from 7-9:45 p.m. Admission is $7. Music by the “Starlighters.” For information, call 521-2688 or 521-7986.

Senior dances are held every Monday at St. Ann Community Center, #1 Community Dr., from 7-9:30 p.m. Admission is $6. Live music. Call 731-2455 or 427-8418.

Florissant Seniors Line Dancing Club meets every Wednesday at the James J. Eagan Center, 12:30-2 p.m. Must be a Florissant resident and have a Golden Age Pass. Registration is not necessary. Couples, groups, and individuals are welcome.

Florissant Seniors Bridge Club meets every Friday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., in the Arts and Crafts room at the James J. Eagan Center. A resident ID is required. Bring a sandwich. Coffee will be provided.
