Timing of Soderburg Firing Was Just Awful

BY RANDY GARDNER

What a big development in local Men’s College Basketball as Saint Louis University fires head Coach Brad Soderburg. Brad, a good person and one that has created a lot of awareness for the program, goes out after winning 96 games in five seasons for the Bills.

What I don’t understand is if they were going to fire him, why now?

Why not right after the season. The school is in the middle of recruiting now and to me this is not a good situation.

It’s all about winning though and I think with the team not making the big dance (or NIT) this year was the final straw. We will see how high of a profile coach SLU will get here in the near future. This is a pivotal move for the history of this program in terms of the school also getting the new basketball stadium on campus.

The big news is also buzzing around town in terms of the hitting slump that Albert Pujols is in. Is it a slump or is this proving that this guy is human. Albert put it on the line as he came out and said that he has to be real and understand that he cannot get the big hit every time. You have to take the good with the bad and learn from it.

This is a great motto and I hope that the fans of St. Louis take this to heart and lay off players as they might not play up to their potential everyday. Remember, we all have bad days or a couple of bad days. At least we are not under the microscope and being questioned everyday about our performance.

Why Shouldn’t the Rams Take a RB Early?
What should the Rams do in the draft? Should they go on the offensive side of the ball? I say yes, get another running back. What if Steven Jackson goes down? The Rams have nobody to step in and fill those every down situations. We have enough receivers but we do also need some defensive help. I think though we need someone to pick up the running slack.

The NFL has become so defensive minded that I would like to see some offensive manpower invested back in this team and keep other teams off balance. With the Rams attack, opponents have to be afraid of the run as well as the air attack. We will see though, the draft is less thabn two weeks away.

I think with the coverage of the draft now that even the casual fan has become more involved with what the teams are doing. I love to see the stories behind all of the players as they are being drafted. Sometimes it’s crazy to watch how the projected draft picks go astray and watch the reactions of players as they lose millions of dollars in signing bonuses with every slot that they drop.

Rage Now 4-0, at Home Saturday
The Rage are on a roll as the indoor football team is now 4-0 with road wins and 2 home wins. As I mentioned, this team is for real. They have a legit shot at winning it all; maybe even going with a perfect record this year. They play at home again this Saturday, April 21st at the Family Arena. It’s a lot of fun for the entire family as you are right on top of the action. Its great football as many of us miss the Rams and the NFL during the off season. This is the perfect game for your football fix.
