Christian Hospital has named Ron McMullen as its new president, effective April 30. McMullen is known as a hands-on leader, with a proven successful track record in developing people and growing needed services within the community.

“He is a leader with effective management skills, who becomes directly involved with the physicians and employees who serve our patients,” said Sandra Van Trease, BJC HealthCare group president, in announcing McMullen’s appointment.

“You’ll also find him to be someone who takes an active interest in the betterment of the communities we serve.”

Prior to this, McMullen was president of Alton Memorial Hospital, where he has worked since 1983. McMullen previously worked with Christian Hospital when Alton Memorial merged with Christian Health Services in 1990. In 1993, both hospitals joined BJC. McMullen holds a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Care Administration from St. Louis University, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Missouri.

“We’re looking forward to Ron’s leadership at Christian Hospital as the organization continues to grow and thrive under his direction as a hospital that embraces quality, technology and service excellence,” said Jerry Daniels, chairman of the Christian Hospital Board of Directors. “We are very fortunate to have a leader of his caliber join the Christian Hospital team.”
