Annual Christmas Concert at St. Ferdinand Shrine Dec. 12 Features Combined Choirs

The annual Christmas Concert at St. Ferdinand Shrine, #1 rue St. Francois in Old Town Florissant will be Sunday, Dec. 12 at 3 p.m.

The concert is titled “A Christmas Carol Gallery” and  features the  Florissant Valley Holiday Choir composed of the choirs from Florissant  Valley Baptist Church  and St. Sabina Catholic Church. The Holiday Choir is under the direction of Tammy Stevenson of Florissant Valley Baptist Church and Florence Holbein of St. Sabina Parish.  Also performing are the students of Sacred Heart School under the direction of Sharon Crosby  and a  sing-along led by guitarist Patrick Finley.

Part One of the concert is a sing-a-long of popular carols while accompanied by  Finley.

Part Two features the Florissant Valley Holiday Choir with their selections: “Christmas is the Best Time of the Year,”    “This Baby Boy,” “ The Prayer” soloists – Ronn Brooks and Tammy Stevenson   and their final selection “Home for the Holidays Medley”  soloists Emily and Hannah Stevenson present a “Christmas Praise Duet.

Part Three features the Sacred Heart Catholic School Sixth Grade Ensemble.  Their selections include: “Joy to the World,”   “Oh Come All You Faithful,” ‘It Came Upon A Midnight Clear,”  “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,”  “We Three Kings of Orient Are,”  “Go Tell It On the Mountain” and “Winter Fantasy”.

Historic St. Ferdinand Shrine will be decorated for Christmas and will be a beautiful setting for the Christmas concert.  This church has been providing Christmas services since 1821, and now 189 years later,  the tradition continues. Seating is limited, so come early.

There is no charge for the program but a free will offering will help support Old St. Ferdinand Shrine.  A reception in the Schoolhouse, will follow the concert.  Everyone is welcome.
