Greater North County Chamber Offers Five $1,000 Scholarships

The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program. The chamber will award five, $1,000 scholarships.

The deadline for applications is Friday, Feb. 24, 2011. Applications can be picked up at local high schools, by contacting the chamber office at 314-831-3500 or online at

The students chosen to receive a scholarship will be recognized at the chamber’s membership luncheon on Wednesday, March 16.

Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who reside in the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce service area. The chamber’s service area includes Florissant, Hazelwood, Black Jack, Spanish Lake and parts of unincorporated St. Louis County.

The scholarship can be used for post high school continuing education expenses including college or university tuition, room and board, books, fees or for expenses associated with a trade or technical school program.

Seniors with a commitment to North County, an interest in pursuing a career in business, and have demonstrated a record of community service are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship fund was set up with donations from local chamber businesses and a fall bowling tournament. All proceeds raised from the bowling tournament go toward the

scholarship fund.
