Florissant To Observe 9-11 on Sunday, 9-12 With Special Program


The City of Florissant along with the Florissant Veteran’s Commission will be hosting the 3rd annual 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 12,  at the James J. Eagan Center at noon. The program will last about one hour, Don Voss  is the chairman for the Florissant Veterans Commission

Ms. Keecee Johns will be performing the national anthem Patriotic music will be provided by Ron Andrews, “the Singing Barber”. Pastor Ron Brooks from the Florissant Valley Baptist Church will perform the invocation.

Also on hand will be the color guard from the Florissant Police Department. Members from the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District will be in attendance and will be raising their large American flag in dedication to the men and women who lost their lives that day.

This year’s guest speaker will be  Steve Price, who is the new superintendent for the Hazelwood School District.

The “Rocking Chair Rascals” will be performing live beginning one-half hour prior to, and one-half hour after the ceremony.

“We would like everyone to come out to the ceremony and pay their respects to all those that lost their lives on that terrible day that America will never forget,” says Mayor Robert Lowery, Sr.  He added:  “The citizens of Florissant are the most patriotic people I have every known, so I am asking for all you to come out and support this event.”
