A Trifecta Of Entertainment Found in Florissant Weekend

(Editor’s note: A Florissant reader wanted to let our readers know what a fun and affordable weekend you can have right here in Florissant.)

If you don’t take advantage of some of the fun Florissant activities, you need to re-think your entertainment agenda and budget. There was top notch entertainment available the weekend of Aug. 6-8 for next to nothing!

We started the weekend with dinner at Florissant’s premier restaurant, Hendel’s Market Café and Piano Bar. You ask, how does this fit into the “for next to nothing” definition? Well, Hendel’s is always listed in the Entertainment book, and if you buy one entrée you get up to $12 off a second entrée. That isn’t “nothing” but it comes pretty close when you are talking great food and atmosphere or try one of the other area restaurants like the ones on this page.

Following dinner we went to the James J. Eagan Center for the Hawthorne Players production of The Producers. Playing to a packed house, this was most probably the best amateur production I have ever seen, in fact, it was better than quite a few professional productions I have seen. And, there was a live orchestra for this production!

Saturday night we went to St. Ferdinand Park and listened to the Billy Peek band. This just keeps getting better-it was free! The one thing I did forget to do was to go to Fritz’s for an ice cream after the show.

The icing on the cake though was the fact that we were joined by three other couples who have moved and had to travel back to Florissant for a great entertainment weekend. Be proud of your town and patronize the Florissant activities. We have a lot to be proud of!
