Getting your sports Fix as one season ends, While Two Others Begin

BY RANDY GARDNER

How bad do I look for predicting the bears winning by six points? Maybe, by six points after the first 10 seconds but not after that. Overall, it was a very good Super Bowl I thought; the rating also proved it to be a very good Super Bowl as it was in the top three most watched games.

The Bears, all year long went with the run and not a lot of passes but they totally abandoned their game plan in this one. The rain played a major factor—I don’t care what anybody says. This is why I think that the Super Bowl should always be played in a domed stadium, just for this reason.

Would this have been a different game if the weather was different… I honestly think so.

I don’t want to take any credit away from the Colts as their defense played great. Peyton Manning was his usually solid self. Off the field, Peyton seems like a nice guy but on the field he is the biggest whiner that I have ever seen. Not everything is going to go your way all the time. I was glad to see him win it though and get that monkey off of his back. I’m already having NFL withdrawal; it’s a good thing that the Arena League and the River City Rage start up shortly so I can get my football fix.

Who out there watched the NFL All Star Game? What a useless game, no one really tries till the end and it just gives the players an opportunity to get really hurt. I think that the players should just be honored with an award for getting to the Pro Bowl.

NASCAR will resolve football letdown —

I was watching the NASCAR race on Saturday night instead of the Pro Bowl. I am so excited about the season starting back up. It all kicks off this weekend with the big one, the Daytona 500. There is no spectacle in the sporting world like this. I will be glued to the TV. It was really good to see some of the guys who have been in the sport for awhile come back like Jeff Burton and Ricky Rudd. Keep an eye out for David Gillian; he’s a rookie but this guy is a great driver and all round good guy. I was excited to see him get the pole for the race at 186 miles per hour.

Can you believe that spring training for baseball is here. It seems like we should still be basking in the warmth of the World Series win. Now, it is time to go back out and defend the title. Can the Cards do it or does it even make a difference? What do you the fans think?

Is one title every 20 years or so good enough for the fans of St. Louis? I think this will be a crucial year in terms of seeing how players and coaches will respond. Do you take it kinda easy and say we are number one and go forward or do you work twice as hard because everyone is gunning for you. We will soon find out.
