Florissant Valley Historical Society’s 50th Anniversary House Tour is June 13

The Florissant Valley Historical Society will hold its 50th annual house tour on Sunday, June 13, from noon-5 p.m. Proceeds benefit the maintenance of the historic Taille de Noyer house which is over 200 years old.

The following homes and sites are included in the tour:

TAILLE DE NOYER (McCluer High School campus, 1896 S. Florissant Rd.) This more than 200-year-old home serves as the museum and headquarters for the Florissant Valley Historical Society. Visitors may tour four floors of the house and enjoy a complimentary homemade dessert.

HEALY (1373 rue St. Louis) This home was built in 1952 and had an addition built in 1982. The décor of the home shows the creativity of the owners with the use of antique shutters and doors.  An antique key cabinet is of particular note.

GETTEMEIER (1316 rue St. Louis) The owners have enlarged the home which includes a 640 sq. ft. addition and a  completely renovated kitchen and bathroom.

DI SALVO (546 N. Lafayette) This five-year-old, white frame farm house, is eclectically furnished with a mixture of old and new. The story-and-a-half house features a great room on the first floor and three bedrooms upstairs. The gardens are a combination of annuals and perennials

PAUBEL (435 rue St. Joseph) This one-and-a-half story home was built in 2004 and features a garden with beautifully designed container plantings, a pond and waterfall with goldfish, and stone pillars topped with planted urns. The interior décor is warm golds, browns, reds and greens.

RYAR ((1345 Lindsey Lane) This home is filled with treasured memories and collections of the owner. Some antiques include furniture, World’s Fair glassware, and dishware from Germany and Bulgaria. There is also a quiet garden.

GLADBACH (43 St. Stanislaus Ct.) This two-story home, built in 1984, is on property once owned by St. Stanislaus Seminary. The owners enjoy traveling and have used their souvenir collections to decorate their home. German nutcrackers and smokers, Santons from France, and Irish china are displayed throughout the house along with family pieces. A John Deere display is feature in the garage.

EHRLIGH (1216 Riverwood Place Dr.) This is a 19-year-old ranch house that has been completely remodeled. Pillars replaced walls in the dining room and architectural molding was added. The former living room has been converted into a grand piano room.

MORE STOPS. The following will also be open during the hour tour, from noon-5 p.m.:

Chappel House, 4560 Washington’ Gittemeier House, 1067 Dunn Road, Hendel’s Market Café; Sacred Heart Church museum, 751 N. Jefferson and  St. Stanislaus Museum, 3030 Charbonier Rd.

Tickets for the house tour are $12 and are available for purchase at the following Old Town locations: Dooley’s Florist, Korte, Village of the Blue Rose, Florissant Marketplace, and the Gettemeier House.
