4th Annual Spanish Lake Youth Resource Fair

The Spanish Lake Youth and Family Council, in partnership with the Hazelwood School District and the Spanish Lake Community Association, will sponsor its fourth annual Youth and Family Resource Fair on Saturday May 15th,  from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Twillman Elementary School, 11831 Bellefontaine Road in Spanish Lake.

Families in Spanish Lake will be able to get information to help them provide a safe and enriching summer for their children and find useful resources to get through the economic downturn. There will also be fun activities and free books for children.

“In these trying economic times, this is a great example of community organizations working together to ensure that citizens are aware of the resources that are available to them,” says Lottie Wade, Chair of the Council.  “According to Wade, “Spanish Lake residents will be able to get information that they can immediately use. A wide range of agencies, businesses, government and faith-based groups will provide information in areas such as summer activities and educational support services for children; recreation; scholarships and job training opportunities for youth. There also will be basic needs information for families such as food and shelter resources, job opportunities, counseling  and child safety. Last year’s Resource Fair was a huge success with over 100 families participating and we anticipate an even larger turnout this year. In these trying economic times this is a great example of the community organizations working together to ensure that citizens are aware of the resources that are available.”
