Hazelwood Robotics Teams Competing at SLU During Spring Break

The St. Louis FIRST Regional Competition at Chaifetz Arena at Saint Louis University will include teams from Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East and Hazelwood West high schools.

FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, is holding the event from Wednesday, March 18 through Friday, March 20. The competition is  unique spectator sport experience in which teams of high school students solve an engineering design challenge through imagination, dedication, teamwork and the help of their robotic friends.” Thirty-five teams from ten states are registered for the event.

The HSD teams have support from various corporations to participate in the St. Louis Regional. Hazelwood Central High, Team 1985, is supported by Boeing, ABB and Siemens. Hazelwood East High, Team 2014, is supported by Boeing and the General Motors Foundation. Hazelwood West High, Team 2408, is supported by Boeing and IBM.

Opening ceremonies and match play begins Friday, March 19 at 9 a.m. at Chaifetz Arena. Awards will be presented at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, March 20 matches continue at 9:30 a.m. and alliance selections begin at 11:45 a.m.   For more information about FIRST Robotics, go online to www.usfirst.org
