BY RANDY GARDNER
This past week was a sad one for me as one of my idols-not only on the field but in life, for the way that he treated other people-called it quits as Kurt Warner officially walked away from the game of football. I have been joking all week long that I hope he pulls a Brett Favre and comes back next season anyway.
He has a passion for the game and it will be hard to be away from it in the competitive manner in which he has played for so long. He can definitely walk into a coaching job anywhere and can be an analyst for any station in the country but I think he will take some time to enjoy the family and kids before he decides. We wish him the best as he has always been great to me and the fans of St. Louis.
How cool would it also be to see another retired player, Isaac Bruce come back and be a receiver coach for the Rams. I think maybe throw him in the front office in a PR position. He would be great for the community. This is what pro sports are all about, making a longtime connection with the fans and making heroes a part of our community.
Head With the Colts. Heart With the Saints
The Super Bowl is here this weekend and it is really hard to say which team is going to win. Many think that the Colts are going to have a field day but I think the Saints have something to prove defensively. Look what they did to the Vikings, completely shutting them down.
Peyton Manning, arguably one of the best quarterbacks ever, will be put to the test as he is expected to win. The Saints and Drew Brees though have put up some great numbers this season. It will be very interesting, my mind says go with the Colts but my heart says go with the Saints.
It would be great to see the Saints win after what the City went through with Hurricane Katrina. Remember, just a few years ago, New Orleans wasn’t sure they would even have a team anymore and look at them now. I will go out on a limb and say the Saints will win by 6.
Does this sound familiar. Rams fans, just a few years ago, 10 to be exact, we were at the top of the heap. Will the Rams be there again.
Even though it is really cold here in St. Louis, the NASCAR boys are getting ready to kick things off on Valentines Day this year. Can’t wait-its always a lot of fun.
