3 Rams Named Deserving of Pro Bowl

BY RANDY GARDNER

As I sit to write this column, I have just been informed that three St. Louis Rams have been selected to the Pro Bowl. That would be Marc Bulger, Tory Holt, and Steven Jackson. Do you agree? I would say yes for these three even though the team has been lackluster this year.

I can’t believe that the NFL has become so complacent that 6-8 teams still have a birth for the wildcard. This should not be happening. It seems like there are only really good teams and really bad teams in the league. Best of luck though to the Blues in gold and blue, as Christmas could be a blessing with a couple of wins, they might just sneak in. Brawlers Should Be Suspended

I am so tired of turning on the TV and seeing all of the negative stories about sporting teams and players. This is never more true than the Terrell Owens spitting incident and the NBA Brawl. Suspend these players long term and take a lot more money out of their pocket.

They don’t care about these $5,000-$35,000 fines, heck, they carry that much in their pocket on game day. Take a half of a seasons pay away and this stuff will stop. The money they are forced to pay is worth the amount of publicity they get. This makes their jersey sales go up, so it’s good for them.

This is a terrible message for the kids out there. How can we teach our kids to do the right thing when the pros are getting away with this and then it is glamorized in the media 24 hours a day on every channel? It is absolutely ridiculous.
Special Times With Mom and Family

As the Christmas season is upon us, stop and be thankful for everyone in your life. I say this with great experience right now. I think many of you will understand exactly what I mean.

Our Mothers are usually the caregivers in early life; when you are sick, they are there. When you need to talk, they are there. Now as an adult, when they are sick, it is hard to figure out what to do and how to feel. You realize how much they have meant to you all of your life but now they mean something totally different to you.

You realize that you have never and can never repay them for all they have done for you. Everyday, stop and hug your kids or your parents. They love you and you love them with all of your heart, and if at no other time say thanks for having them here at the Holiday Season.

Do something different with them during the holiday season We took my mom to her first ever Rams game a few weeks ago. She had a lot of fun. I think she’s hooked on football now.

Merry Christmas and the best in 2007 to all our readers and viewers on News 20.
