One Great Game at The Dome, Another Not So Good Over Weekend

By Randy Gardner

How cool is it to once again say that the Missouri High School Football Champions are from North County as Hazelwood Central has done it once again. This was one of the best High School Football games that I have seen in a long time. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to play at the Dome for a Championship and some of these guys did it for two straight years. Congratulations to Hazelwood Central, Coach Richard Nixon, and the Suburban North Football Conference.

I talked about one of the best games at the Dome last weekend, but there was also one of the worst on Sunday and that would be the St. Louis Rams.  This team couldn’t buy a win right now. Defensively this team couldn’t stop me running the football against them-well Maybe me.

Offensively, they  have to get some fire power besides Steven Jackson. I knew it was going to be bad this year but in no way did I think it would be this bad as the Rams have lost all but one.

On one hand, maybe take the low road and lose the rest so you can get that number one pick and I definitely go quarterback. I think the fans would be patient with a number one pick of a Qb and be waiting patiently for him to mature with this team. It would be a much different feeling amongst the fans, as they now just sit and watch us beat the same old horses week after week with the same results.

I really think with Marc Bulger’s injury, we have seen the last of him in a Rams jersey as starting QB. The Rams can save a fortune on next years salary cap by cutting him lose at the end of the season. Look around the NFL right now and see how well some of the rookie QB’s are doing such as Brady Quinn. If it will work  I would trade for a guy like Drew Breese in a second. This guy has single handedly changed the New Orleans Saints into winners. This just goes to show how much a leader in that position can make.

Missouri Season Somewhat Disappointing

How about those Missouri Tigers. This past Saturday, I think I ate of every inch of 3 of my finger nails. What a back and forth game and both teams traded scores until the very end when the Tigers defense came up big and held Kansas to a stop. This will probably put the Tigers in a bowl game.

It just seems like the season has been a bit of a disappointment though as the Tigers had been so good over the past few years. I know the Tigers lost a lot of great players this year and this just goes to show you that Gary Pinkel can make it work no matter who he has. Next week, I will pass on a great story about past Mizzou star Chase Daniels as he was pranked by his NFL team.
