St. Louis County Opens Applications for
Animal Shelter Volunteer Pilot Program
Saint Louis County has announce that applications are now open for its new Pilot Volunteer Program at the Animal Care and Control Shelter(ACC). This initiative offers community members a unique opportunity to contribute their time and
compassion to help animals in need while supporting the shelter’s mission to protect the health and welfare of both pets and residents in Saint Louis County.
“During the pilot program we will be seeking feedback from all the participants so that we can make it the best volunteer program ever,” said Dr. Kanika Cunningham, Director of the Department of Public Health.
“We are deeply grateful for those members of our community who step up and help us provide humane care, adoptions, and promotion of responsible pet ownership.”
Interested individuals can apply by visiting stlouiscountymo.gov. Applications for the pilot program will be accepted through Tuesday, Feb. 25. The Animal Protection Association has told donors and volunteers that the group won’t use mass euthanasia at the county animal shelter
ACC will operate under the principles of Socially Conscious Sheltering, an ethical approach that prioritizes the well-being of every animal. Whether helping to enrich the lives of shelter pets or educating the public about responsible pet ownership, volunteers will be instrumental in improving outcomes for animals in need.
