Christmas Walk & Parade in Old Town Florissant is Dec. 5
Florissant’s Christmas in Old Town with the Christmas Walk, parade and tree lighting will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5. This year’s theme is Old Town Winter Wonderland. The Christmas Walk will be held from 1-5 p.m., the parade at 5:30 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. with the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree in front of Florissant City Hall.
Old Town retail shops and restaurants will be open for shopping and relaxing during the day.
Old St. Ferdinand Shrine will be open for free tours and Christmas music. The shrine is on the National Register of Historic Places. The second floor of the Schoolhouse features a book fair, the proceeds of which support the shrine. Bean soup and cornbread will be available.
Stop in the retail shops that will be open in Old Town offering early Christmas shopping. Vintage Essentials Antique Shop is located on rue St. Charles near Old St. Ferdinand Shrine. Click’s Heating and Cooling, 124 rue St. Francois, will serve hot apple cider and cookies.
Santa Arrives on FLERT Bus
Santa Claus will arrive in Florissant on the FLERT Bus, which will travel rue St. Francois to the Government Center where he will visit with children from 2-5 p.m. The center is located at rue St. Francois and New Florissant Rd.
Take a break and visit the Sandie’s Interiors in the 300 block of rue St. Francois. Here you might find just the perfect Christmas decorations you have been looking for, while enjoying free cocoa and cookies. Sandie’s will also have a silent auction for baskets and Christmas Stockings and a quilt raffle. Florissant Old Town Partners sponsors this event from 1 – 5p.m.
The FLERT Bus will be available from 1-5 p.m. for rides up and down rue St. Francois, stopping by all the retail shops including: The Silver Moon Stencil Shop, Florissant Old Town Marketplace, Village of the Blue Rose, Dooley’s Florist, Korte’s Frames and Gifts, Stems Florist, Generations Antique Shop on rue St. Francois. Restaurants open will be City Diner, Helfer’s Deli and Hendel’s Market Café and Moon Beans Coffee Shop at St. Jean and rue St. Francois
The annual Christmas Parade will depart from Old St. Ferdinand Shrine grounds at 5:30 p.m. and travel rue St. Francois to City Hall for the tree lighting at 6 p.m.
