Florissant Looks at Options for Accessible Playground; Informational Meeting Aug. 18

An informational meeting has been scheduled to discuss an accessible playground for Florissant. The meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 18, from 7-9 p.m., at the Florissant Valley Branch Library, 195 New Florissant Road, South.

Guest speakers scheduled to attend are: Spade and Associates, design engineer for Tilles Park; Todd and Natalie Blakemore, Unlimited Play, Lake St. Louis; Jon Lindell, Cunningham Associates Playtime Playground; Mark Behlmann, Florissant Parks Foundation; and Chris Durbin, North County Inclusion Coordinator.

Gary Behlmann, chairman of the Disability Awareness Commission, is working to gather support for an all-inclusive park for the City of Florissant.

“The all-inclusive park/playground is one that is accessible for all children no matter their physical limitations,” said Behlmann. “There are three parks in the St. Louis area so far – Lake St. Louis, Forest Park, and Tilles Park. Behlmann hopes to make this a collaborative effort of the city’s boards and commissions as well as residents.
