Florissant Plaque Dedication

July 31 Honors Jack Weidinger

The City of Florissant and Florissant Old Town Partners has announced a Plaque Dedication set for Wednesday, July 31st at 5:30 pm. This will be the 63rd Plaque along St. Francois Walk Thru History Plaque Dedication Program. This program was designed to recognize those individuals who have made valuable contributions to the wholesome fabric of our beautiful City of Florissant and North St. Louis County.

The ceremony will be held on St. Francois St. near Bunkers Tavern before the start of the 3rd Old Town Partners Wednesday Night Out of the season held in front of Paul Manganelli’s American Family Insurance building. This Wednesday Night Out is a fundraiser for the Italian Festival later this year.

The Plaque reads as follows:

John (Jack) Weidinger September 22, 1936 – January 3, 2023

John, better known as Jack, was proud of being the third-generation proprietor of Weidinger’s Saloon. When Herman, Jack’s father passed away in 1955, Jack finished his service in Korea & kept the Weidinger Saloon legacy from 1959 to 2002 then retired. Weidinger’s Saloon was on St. Francois for over 100 years.

Jack sponsored many youth sports leagues and was a member of GNC Chamber. Jack was considered a cornerstone in the community, the corner bar, and definitely the cornerstone of his family.
