St. Louis County New Comprehensive Plan Public

For the first time in more than 40 years, St. Louis County is developing a new Comprehensive Plan, and is seeking the public’s guidance in crafting this strategic framework for how our community intends to grow and evolve over time.

“Now is the time to be brave, to ask hard questions about what we want St. Louis County to be, and to challenge ourselves to unite behind a bold vision for the future,” Dr. Sam Page said.

A Comprehensive Plan serves as a guide for decision-making that outlines a community’s long-term vision and goals for its physical, social, economic, and environmental development. Key components typically include land use, transportation, housing, infrastructure, economic development, environmental sustainability, public facilities, and community services.

Members of the public may meet the planning team and talk to them directly in the weeks and months ahead, including from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, May 25, at the Ferguson Farmers Market; from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, at the Fenton Community and Farmers Market; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Green Living Festival.

The last Comprehensive Plan for the County was adopted in 1980, with an update in 1985.

The County has partnered with AECOM, Shockey Consulting, Rise Community Development, and H3 Studio to develop and draft this innovative plan.

The comprehensive planning process will continue through early 2025. More information about this initiative and additional opportunities to engage in the planning process can be found here.
