Grand Opening for new Archery Range in Florissant

Florissant Opens in Archery Course at Sunset  Park

     New Facility  at SUNSET  PARK

A Grand Opening Ceremony was held for the new archery range at Sunset Park yesterday. It was well-attended and the weather cooperated for a very nice ceremony.

In attendance were Mayor Lowery, Ward 2 Councilman Paul Manganelli, Ward 4 Jeff Caputa, Ward 7 Jackie Pagano, Economic Developer Patrick Mulcahy, North County Chamber President Jaime Jenkins, Old Town Partners President Jessica Berchtold, Business Manager of Heat and Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Local One Gary Payeur, President of Utility Workers Unions of America Local 335 Allan Bathon, Plumbers, Pipefitters Local 562, and the conservation programs manager for the Union Sportmen’s Alliance Sam Phipps,

Coordinator/Instructor St. Louis Cement Masons Joint Apprenticeship Program Scott Downs, Superintendent of Parks and recreation Jimmy Kirincich, Parks Maintenance Superintendent Kevin     Green, Recording Secretary Local 335 Jim Dent, and MO American Water Senior Director of Operations Brian Eisenloeffel.

The new location has a static range and a 3D range: at this time there is no 3d range, just the static range. A huge step forward from our last Archery Range at Koch Park. There is a beautiful view down this hill overlooking the Missouri River in the trees enjoying nature. We are very excited to show off this new amenity for our City’s residents.

This project was made possible with private funds and all the work done was done by union volunteers from the St. Louis Building & Construction Trades Council, Greater St. Louis Labor Council, and the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance.

All together Union volunteers donated 1,680 hours of labor, valued at $89,040, to complete this project. A large part of that grant came from Missouri American Water, which totaled over $16,000, and another $10,000 from McBride Homes.
