A PLAQUE DEDICATION FOR THE LATE SATOKO “SUE” MITCHELL IS SET FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 27 IN FRONT OF
111 RUE ST. FRANCOIS BEFORE THE START OF THE LAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT OUT FESTIVITIES of 2023.
The City of Florissant and Florissant Old Town Partners hav e announced a plaque dedication in honor of the late Satoko “Sue” Mitchell. This will be the 60th Walk Through History plaque in honor of someone that have made valuable contributions to the City of Florissant or someone with Florissant roots that has impacted our community.
The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 5:30 p.m. in front of 111 rue St. Francois. The plaque dedication will take place before the start of the last Wednesday Night Out festivities hosted by Hendels Café.
Satoko Yamamoto was born in Nikko, Japan. She married Al Mitchell in 1952 and went by the name “Sue”. She came to USA knowing only her husband. They raised five children. As a child she taught herself to sew when she lived in Japan.
She opened Sue’s Alteration Shop in Old Town Florissant and was there for over twenty years. She had strong ties with the Florissant community and was known for her kindness that built lifelong friends.
