Fine Arts Council Brings The ‘Duelling Divas’ to Florissant

Florissant Fine Arts Council’s Applause/Applause Series continues with “Duelling Divas” on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. at the Florissant Civic Center Theatre, Parker Rd. at Waterford Dr.

An outrageously funny celebration of opera’s over-the-top personalities!  You’ll never think of Opera the same way again.  You’ll be shaken.  You’ll be stirred.  You’ll laugh until you cry.  Duelling Divas is the smartest, campiest twist on opera that has come our way ever.  You’ll fall in love with Vladka and Gwendoline, also with Paige Turner, the piano player.

Baroness Vladka Von Loudenstimme has had a long career on the opera stage, but for how much longer is anyone’s guess.  She’s still got the pipes, but she likes to soak them in booze during every performance.  When she hires a younger Southern Belle to sing for the audience so she can step off stage for a nip, the diva duet becomes a duel of epic proportions.   This show comes complete with horned helmets, a spear and a lite saber.

For reservations call 314-921-5678.  Admission is $27 Adults and $25 for Seniors/Students.
