By Carol Arnett

The Florissant City council held a public hearing on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) budget at the last council meeting.

The Citizens Participation Committee presents a proposed budget to the council. Francine Andrews, a member of the committee, presented the budget to the council.

“We had requests from two new organizations this year,” Andrews said. The Emergency Assistance Ministry (TEAM) and St. Ferdinand Shrine both requested funding. The Shrine requested the money to assist in making the restrooms accessible to disabled individuals.

The Citizens Participation Committee anticipates the grant amount will be $220,000. Of this amount, $130,500 will go to the home loan program, and $10,000 to the COPS program. $30,000 will go to St. Ferdinand Shrine, $3,500 to Jamestown New Horizons to assist in proving riding programs for disabled individuals, and $2,000 to TEAM. $44,000 will go toward the administration of the grant.

No one spoke at the public hearing.  The council will vote later on the grant budget.
