Jazz Musicians Offer Positive Pandemic Message

Record Company’s Jazzy  Release Offers

Positive Pandemic Message

                       By Sandra Olmsted

On Dec. 27, Biddle Street Records released “Keep Your Social Distance” online through Bandcamp’s website, where anyone can access two versions of the St. Louis Jazz Ambassadors’ unique CD single. According to Grammy-nominated Bill Dahl, the author of Motown: The Golden Years and The Art of the Blues, “Writer/producer Bruce Bramoweth has gathered the cream of the St. Louis jazz and blues community to deliver this swinging set of suggestions on how to protect yourself and others.”

“Keep Your Social Distance” features an unprecedented 19 lead singers, six background singers, five horn players, and a four-piece rhythm section. Six performers hail from North County: lead singers Robert Nelson, Archie Johnson, and Roland Johnson, piano player Phillip Graves, and background singers Charlie Kinnison and Sam Rinkenbaugh. Vocalist Serenity Holloway was recently reassigned from Scott Air Force Base’s USAF Band of Mid-America to the prestigious United States Air Force Academy Band in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Called “an irresistible groove that’ll have you high-steppin’ all over your living room” by Dahl, the upbeat, swinging “Keep Your Social Distance” is offered in two versions: one without a PSA, and a similar version with a PSA tagline encouraging Covid-19 vaccinations. Any institution wishing to use either version to promote public health should contact producer Bruce Bramoweth at: biddlestreetrecords@gmail.com.

Both download versions of “Keep Your Social Distance” are available online at Bandcamp: https://stlouisjazzambassadors.bandcamp.com/track/keep-your-social-distance. The music video versions of “Keep Your Social Distance” will premiere soon, and more about Biddle Street Records and their debut releases can be found at https://biddlestreetrecords.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/Biddle-Street-Records-103523918864746/.
