Golfers from West, IWA State Bound

Hazelwood West sophomore Alicia Yn along with two girls golfers from Incarnate Word Academy, senior Molly McCormack and sophomore Mary Kathryn Stewart, will be competing in the 2009 Class Two State Championships Oct. 19-20 at Fremont Hills Country Club, Nixa.
On Oct. 19 Yn will tee off from the 10th hole at 9:42 a.m., McCormack will tee off from the first hole at 10:45 a.m. and Stewart will tee off from the 10th hole at 10:27 a.m. Second-round tee times will be announced after the close of the first round.
Yn qualified for state for the second straight year by finishing sixth overall Oct. 6 (24-over-par 95) in the Class Two, District Two meet at Crystal Springs Quarry, Maryland Heights, and was the third highest qualifying individual from a school other than district champion St. Joseph’s Academy. McCormack, who will be competing in state for the third straight year, finished fifth in Class Two, District Two (+20, 91) and was the second highest individual qualifier. Stewart (+36 107) made the qualifying cut by being among the top 10 individuals not from St. Joe, finishing tied for ninth, and is making her first trip to the state tournament.
WEATHER DELAYS SOFTBALL — Heavy rains Oct. 8-9 delayed the finish of the Softball District Tournaments. The Sectional Rounds were to be played Oct. 14, Quarterfinals are to be held Oct. 17 and the State Semifinals-Finals are scheduled for Oct. 23-24, in St. Joseph, Mo. Still alive as of Oct. 11 were Hazelwood West, McCluer North, Hazelwood Central and McCluer in Class Four, District Seven, Incarnate Word, Ritenour, Parkway Central and Rosati-Kain in Class Four, District Six, and Trinity Catholic, McCluer South-Berkeley, Lutheran North and Jennings in Class Three, District Six.

GIRLS TENNIS — McCluer North was to play Pattonville and McCluer was to play Parkway Central Oct. 12 in the Class Two team regional round. The winners will play in the Team Sectionals this weekend.
