Valley of Flowers Cancelled, Car Show and Queen Coronation will still be held

THE 58TH ANNUAL VALLEY OF FLOWERS

HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR THIS YEAR

After meeting with the Valley of Flowers organizers, it has been decided to cancel the 58th Annual Valley of Flowers festivities  July 31- Aug.2  originally planned at the former Knights of Columbus grounds and the  Aug. 2 parade  through  the city.

As the current COVID-19 pandemic situation continues and with the rise in cases in the area, the decision was made to cancel the Valley of Flowers event for this year to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone, the city announced.

The 2020 Car Show sponsored by Friends of Veterans will still go on as scheduled. This event will be on Saturday, August 1st from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 4105 located at 410 rue St. Francois. The traditional crowning of the Valley of Flowers Queen will be held on Sunday, August 2nd in a private ceremony.

The KTRS live remote broadcast featuring John Carney and Julie Buck of the Carney Show that was scheduled for Friday, July 31st from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. has also been canceled.

The current pandemic situation remains fluid. Mayor Tim Lowery and the Valley of Flowers organizers made this decision because keeping everyone safe and healthy is the ultimate priority.
