Riverview, Host Basketball Districts

Basketball’s road to the Missouri State High School Activities Association championships, at Missouri State University in Springfield (March 12-14 for Classes One-Three and Match 19-21 for Classes Four-Five), begin Saturday, Feb. 22, for some districts in Classes One-Three and Feb.29 for some districts in Classes Four-Five.

Lutheran North, Hazelwood Central, and Riverview Gardens, as well as St. Charles High, will host district tournaments. Incarnate Word Academy will begin defense of their Class Four Girls State championship at St. Charles High while Vashon, which won the Class Three Boys State title last year, will be in Class Four and begins their road to another title at Riverview.

Lutheran North begins Class Three District Seven Feb. 24 as the Boys two seed and plays seventh-seeded STEAM Academy at McCluer South-Berkeley at 6:30. Trinity Catholic is the top seed and will play eighth-seeded Collegiate School of Medicine-Bio Science at 5 p.m. after the 3:30 game between fourth-seeded Orchard Farm and fifth-seeded Duchesne. Third-seeded Soldan International Studies and sixth-seeded North Tech close out the day at 8 p.m.

Lutheran North is the top girls’ seed and plays eighth seeded Soldan-International Studies Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. after fourth-seeded Orchard Farm plays fifth-seeded North Tech at 3:30 p.m. Third-seeded Trinity Catholic meets sixth-seeded STEAM Academy-MSB at 8 p.m. after second-seeded Duchesne meets seventh-seeded Collegiate School of Medicine-Bio Science at 6:30.

District semifinals will be at 5:15 and 7 p.m. Feb. 26 for Boys and Feb. 27 for Girls while District finals ate Feb. 29 at 12 noon for Boys and 2 p.m. The District Seven winner plays the District Eight winner in the March 4 Sectionals at Francis Howell Central, Cottlevillle, 6 p.m. for Girls and 7:45 for Boys. The Sectional Four winner plays the Sectional Three winner March 7 in the Quarterfinals at Normandy Viking Hall, 12 noon for girls and 1:45 for Boys.

Hazelwood Central Field House will host Class Five District Five Feb. 29-March 7 Hazelwood Central is the likely top girls seed, Hazelwood West is the likely girls second seed, McCluer North is the likely third seed in boys and girls and Ritenour is the likely fourth seed in both. Hazelwoods Central and West Boys are the likely top two seeds but not exactly in that order.

The District Five winners play the District Six winners in Sectional Three March 11 at St. Charles West, Girls at 6 p.m., boys at 7 p.m., and the Sectional Three Winner plays the Sectional Four winner in the March 14 Quarterfinals in St. Charles at Lindenwood University Robert Hyland Arena, 6 p.m. for Girls and 7:45 for Boys.

Riverview Gardens hosts Class Four, District Six and Vashon is the likely top seed for Boys and Girls. Also competing against the Riverview Boys and Girls are Hazelwood East, Jennings and KIPP St., Louis Charter Boys and Girls as well as Confluence Prep Academy Charter Boys and Rosati-Kain Girls. The District Six Winners play the District Five winners met March 10 in Sectional Three at Parkway West, 6 p.m. for Girls and 7:45 for Boys.

In Class Four, District Seven at St. Charles High, McCluer High is the top Boys seed and plays March 5, 7 p.m. against the winner of the March 2, 5:30 p.m. between fourth-seeded Parkway North and fifth-seeded St. Charles West. St. Dominic is the second seed and plays March 5, 8:30 p.m. against the winner of the March 2, 7 p.m. game between third-seeded St. Charles High and sixth-seeded Fort Zumwalt East.

Incarnate Word Academy is the Girls top seed and plays March 5, 4 p.m. against the winner of the March 3, 4:30 game between fourth-seeded St. Dominic and fifth-seeded St. Charles West. McCluer Girls are seeded seventh and plays March 3, 7:30 against second-seeded Parkway North after third-seeded Fort Zumwalt East meets sixth-seeded St. Charles High at 6 p.m. The winners of the last two March 3 games play March 5 at 5:30.

March 5 winners play March 7 at 3:30 (Girls) and 5 p.m. (Boys). The District Seven Champion meets the District Eight Champion March 10 in Sectional Four at Troy0Buchanan, 6 p.m. (Girls) and 7:45 (Boys). Winners of Sectionals Three and Four meet in the March 14 Quarterfinals at Maryville University Maloney Arena, Girls Start at 6 p.m. while the Boys Start at 7:45.
