Read MoreWinning NL Pennant is Beyond Cardinals Earlier Expectations
What a roller coaster this has been for St. Louis fans. As I sit and write this column on Wednesday morning, we are just one game away from the World Series, Can you believe it?
This is all on top of some poor production out of several of our Redbirds. Who would have ever thought that Scott Rolen and Albert Pujols would be having the kind of series they are. All that matters though is that we are winning. Maybe by the time you read this, the Birds will have wrapped up another pennant.
The Stadium was rocking on Tuesday night like the old days, it was great. There is nothing better than seeing the entire St. Louis area involved in baseball spirit. It kind of changes everybody’s mood every day. This will be especially true if we make it to the World Series.
On the other hand though, if Tony LaRussa and the Birds make it to the Series again, will they have to win this one to validate the coach and the team? I don’t think so, I think many people didn’t even think that we would make it this far. I am just speculating right now but I say the Cards in 7 in the Mets series because of my deadline on the column.
WHINING RAMS FANS?
I am so sick of hearing the Rams fan whine about this team. First they are great because they are 4-1 and now that they lost a nail biter to Seattle, we are horrible. Wake up people. If at the beginning of the season you would have told me that we were going to be 4-2 at the bye week, I would have said that is great.
Yes, this team has been lucky, but luck and hard work are the force of champions. Remember, you win some close ones and you lose some, we just fell a little short against Seattle.
Its good to see Marc Bulger, a man who just goes about his everyday business have a great game. He is quietly developing a great season for himself. Also I can’t say enough about the play of Tory Holt, this guy deserves every dollar that he is paid. Besides his work ethic, he is great off the field with the fans and charities.
I really think that Scott Linehan has this team in the right direction. Also, I am very impressed with Jim Haslett; this guy seems like he is tough as nails but behind closed doors, this guy has a great personality and is really fun to be around.
TRADING HARGROVE WAS RIGHT MOVE.
Here is the perfect example of how I think that a team should be run at any level. The Rams and Anthony Hargrove. Was this guy’s heart and head in the team and the game? Some say “yes,” others say he didn’t do a thing. He missed a few unexcused days of practice and wasn’t what the franchise expected. So they traded him for a fifth round draft pick.
To many teams let the players make the calls and don’t stand up for what is right. I think this was great that Hargrove is gone. I think it showed others on this team that you are not above being graded, so work hard and be dedicated. This goes for any level of sports and any level of work in society. Work Hard or be Traded! You only get out of a situation what you are willing to put in!
