PUMPKIN DECORATING will be one of the many activities for children at the fall festival.
Florissant’s Old Town Fall Festival, which many say is the best festival of the year anwhere, will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 (Party in the Park) and Sunday, Oct. 11 (event day).
On Saturday, Party in the Park will be held at St. Ferdinand Park and will include a 5K run, children’s fishing tournament, and sports events. The evening will conclude on Saturday with a concert at 6 p.m. at the lake featuring Billy Peek.
Saturday’s events will start with the first annual Mayor’s Challenge five-mile run/walk, sponsored by the Florissant Jaycees. The run/walk starts at 8 a.m. and will be followed by sporting events through St. Ferdinand Park.
Sunday at Fall Festival
Many Fall Festival favorites are returning this year to insure a fun-filled experience for al The Fall Festival to be held on Sunday, Oct. 11, from noon-5 p.m., on rue St. Francois.
Activities will include the 12th annual chili cook-off in front of Click’s Heating & Cooling at 124 rue St. Francois, live entertainment on each block, Fido Follies, children’s activities, a large flower show and competition, Spanish, French, German and Irish cultural heritage celebration, food booths, a wine and cheese garden,, a flea market and other displays. The Northern Arts Council of Florissant will sponsor a children’s art festival.
For the 12th straight year Click Heating & Cooling is sponsoring the Chili-Cook-Off complete with spirited competition and unique chili recipes. Get there early for tasting as the chili goes fast.
Baronwood Kennels is offering Fido Follies where your own special dog can be showcased in various canine contests. And, this year’s children’s hands-on activities include pumpkin carving and contest brought to you by Zykan Properties and jewelry making courtesy of Don Henefer’s Jewelers.
Even the youngest festival goers can enjoy pumpkin decorating provided by Dooley’s Florist and Gifts. Other children’s activities available throughout the Festival include game booths, face painting, pony rides, and personalizing stepping stones.
At Old St. Ferdinand Shrine there will be a potter, bread oven, flint knapper, petting zoo, historical games and more.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the Dixie Rhythm Kings, The Auberrys, Dan Sproat, Morning Vision, and Spanish, German and Irish music.
The chair for the Party in the Park sporting events on Saturday is Dan Sullivan. Karen Goodwin and Diana Weidinger are co-chairs of the Fall Festival on Sunday.

Food and drink booths will be found in every block. Satisfy your appetite with a wide variety of cuisine from great barbecue to scrumptious deep fried Oreos. Numerous local businesses will have informational booths available, and feel free to shop the local merchants that will be open during the Festival. And, don’t forget to stop by the Florissant Police Department and Florissant Fire Department booths for special give-a-ways.

Party in the Park Saturday Oct. 10 Concludes With Billy Peak Concert at 6 pm
Florissant Old Town Partners will hold the Party in the Park on Saturday, Oct. 10 and the Florissant Old Town Fall Festival on Sunday, Oct. 11. Party in the Park will be at St. Ferdinand Park and will include a 5K run, children’s fishing tournament, and sports events.
The Party in the Park concludes at 6 p.m. with a concert in front of lake featuring St. Louis guitarist Billy Peak and his band. He is a protegee of Chuck Berry and played for several years with Rod Stewart’s Band.
