Lewis Bouwman is Veteran Of the Year in Florissant

Lewis G. Bouwman has been named 2019 Veteran of the Year for the City of Florissant. Bouwman moved to Florissant in 1989 and was an Eagle Scout from Troop 739 from Russell School. He graduated from Hazelwood West in 1992.

Bourwman entered the Army on active duty in January 1994 and was stationed at Ft. Campbell Ky. (101st Airborne) as an Infantryman with the 327th Infantry Regiment. He completed Air Assault School, Jungle Warfare School in Ft. Sherman, Panama, and received the Expert Infantryman Badge.

He served in the Army Reserve/National Guard in 1997 as a military police officer.  He ended his military service in the Reserves in 2010.  He had served as a drill instructor with the 95th Division.

He was deployed in 2007 to Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). He was a squad leader and convoy commander with 200+ Combat Missions and received numerous awards, which include a Combat Action Badge and Army Commendation Medals.

Bourwman was hired by St. Louis County Police Department in December of 1999 and has 20 years of service. He was a patrolman in North and South County Precincts for 13 Years, and a detective with Bureau of Narcotics attached to the DEA for 4 years. Currently, he’s an investigator with St. Louis County Special Response Unit and member of the Crisis Negotiation Team. He resides in the City of Florissant and is a bachelor.
