BY RANDY GARDNER
Alright, we made it. I guess you can call it that. Here is where everyone thought we would not be, that’s the RedBirds playing for the National League title.
I was right on board with them in the first two but then was a little scared in the third game thinking, here we go again.
Here comes the tumble. It didn’t happen as they put away the Padres in game four. By Thursday, (the date of the paper) the Cards have already played one, I don’t know where we stand but remember this is along series.
One lucky game, some good pitching, and a few good hits and the Cards are there. Back in the big one, World Series. Can we win it? I honestly think so.
We can break down players all over the field and there are some major negatives. Good example, Scott Rolen’s production and the fielding of some of these guys but it all comes down to offensive production and it seems to revolve around Albert Pujols. When he is productive so are the Birds. So Albert, get some good nights of rest and get us there. It’s good to see the fans of St. Louis back into pennant fever. There are no fans like the ones here in St. Louis.
• Tougher Part of Rams Schedule Next
How about those Rams, they are 4-1 right now with the toughest part of their schedule to come? Will they fall apart now facing some better teams in the middle part of their season? I personally don’t think that the Seahawks are that good this year. This Rams team can be easily at 5-1.
Like Scott Linehan always says, we can only look at one game at a time. You can only win one at a time. I really think that all of the players are buying into this team’s philosophy and you can really see that on defense as Jim Haslett has this team really playing hard.
Many would say that this team is really lucky. Darn right they are lucky, they could be 2-3 with a few bounces of the ball going the other way, but some you win, some you lose. You can’t get lucky though in all 16 games, hard work and dedication will pay off for this team. What will you do if a Baseball game is scheduled at the same time as a football game? Who are you more dedicated to, the Rams or the Cards? That’s why they invented picture in picture, right?
• Could Mizzou Go Undefeated?
How about those Mizzou Tigers? Through the years I haven’t talk much about them but I have always been a fan. But now I am a huge fan of this team. I hope they really do well. Gary Pinkel’s job was on the line and now he deserves to stay. This guy has been great for the program and the University. Mizzou has been winning handily, too. There are not any of these squeak by games.
Mizzou has a legit chance to go undefeated but once again remember one game at a time. Its time for this team and University to get on the football map in the country.
