A Plaque For Grace Zykan Unveiled

An overwhelming crowd of family and friends gathered in front of 525 rue St. Francois on Wednesday, September 25 to unveil the 41st Walk Through History plaque in honor of the late Grace Zykan before the start of the last Wednesday Night Out festivities which was sponsored by Hendel’s Café.

Venus Martz, the president/CEO of the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce made a special announcement that at their upcoming 65th Anniversary Awards luncheon in 2020, the Chamber will begin the “Zykan Lifetime Achievement Award” in recognition of Grace and the Zykan family’s important role in our community. This award will be given to an individual that has positively impacted and created a better North County community throughout their lives, just like Grace. Others scheduled to speak in honor of Grace Zykan were Becky Touchette, president of the Soroptimist International Club of St. Louis; longtime close friend and co-chairman of the Florissant Fall Festival Committee, Diana Weidinger; and Don Zykan, Jr.

Grace was an Officer & Owner of the Zykan Brothers Family Business. She was named Chamber Outstanding Person of the Year in 2006. She also was the receiver of the Christian Hospital Paul Detrick Award. Grace touched the lives of many and was an inspiration to all.
