Hazelwood Central Hosts 3 Boys
High School Soccer Jamborees

Usually a high school pre-season interscholastic scrimmage, also known as Jamborees, are made up of three or four participating high schools However, 10 high school boys’ soccer teams will travel to Hazelwood Central Aug. 24 for the soccer Jamborees. Two of them will start a 9 a.m. while a third will begin at 12 noon.
Hazelwood Central will open on the main soccer field, on the south end of the campus and adjacent to the Hazelwood School District Bus Lot, at 9 a.m., against McCluer North. The Hawks take on the Collegiate School of Medicine at 9:30 a.m. and McCluer at 11:30 a.m.
Before taking on Hazelwood Central, McCluer takes on the Collegiate School of Medicine at 10 a.m. and McCluer North at 11 a.m. In between scrimmaging against Hazelwood Central and McCluer, McCluer North takes on the Collegiate School of Medicine at 10:30 a.m.
On the lower soccer field, adjacent to the main Hazelwood Central field and closer to New Halls Ferry Road, Hazelwood East takes on North Technical at 9 a.m., North Technical takes on University City at 9:35 a.m. and Hazelwood East takes on University City at 10:25 a.m.
From 12 noon to about 3 p.m. on Hazelwood Central’s main field, Hazelwood West, St. Charles High, St. Louis United (a home school team) and Parkway North will be scrimmaging. Hazelwood West takes on St. Charles High at 12 noon, St. Louis United at 1:30 and Parkway North at 2 p.m.
AT PARKWAY CENTRAL, Aug. 24, Trinity Catholic takes on Bishop DuBourg at 1 p.m., St. Charles West at 2 p.m. and Whitfield at 2:30. Prior to that, beginning at 9 a.m., Parkway Central will compete in their Jamboree with Chaminade, Lafayette and Ritenour.
SOFTBALL — Hazelwood West will host a Jamboree Aug. 27 beginning at 4 p.m. against Pattonville followed by Trinity Catholic at 4:45 and St. Charles West at 5:30. Other than taking on Hazelwood West, Trinity Catholic meets St.
Charles West at 4 p.m. and Pattonville at 5:30. Incarnate Word Academy will compete with Marquette (Rockwood School District) Aug. 24 in Sullivan beginning at 9 a.m.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL — McCluer North is to host a three-team Jamboree on Aug. 22 at 4 p.m., and competing on their schedule is STEAM Academy at McCluer South-Berkeley and Hazelwood East. McCluer will be at Parkway South’s Jamboree Aug. 23 at 4:15 or 4:30. Incarnate Word Academy has a Volleyball Jamboree on their schedule with an undisclosed site, date and time.
FOOTBALL — Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East and McCluer are in the Parkway North Jamboree Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. McCluer North will host a Blue and Silver scrimmage Saturday (Aug. 17) at 1 p.m. Then, the Stars head to Weldon Spring and the Francis Howell Jamboree Aug. 23, 7 p.m. In addition, there are defending Class Six Champion CBC and defending Class Four Champion Ladue Horton Watkins. Hazelwood West is to schedule a scrimmage or jamboree Aug. 23, 6 p.m. and it may take place at Pattonville Stadium, which has lights while West does not.
SEASON-OPENING TOURNAMENTS— McCluer North will, once again, host the Ferguson-Florissant School District Kickoff Cross Country Meet Aug. 31 at 9 a.m. Participating FFSD Cross Country High Schools include McCluer and STEAM Academy at McCluer South-Berkeley, debuting under a new school name.
Lutheran North Boys Soccer, fourth-place in Class One State last year, will open the season-opening Metro-League Tournament Aug. 30, 5:30 at St. Louis Priory. Other Metro League Tournament dates are Sept. 4 and 7. Since the Metro League season -opener began in 2013 Lutheran North is 1-17, defeating Whitfield 3-3 on Aug 27, 2016.
Incarnate Word Volleyball, after opening Aug. 30 at the Ritenour Costilow Field House, will head to the Academy of the Visitation Tournament Aug. 31. IWA was 4-2 in 2018, 2-1-1 in 2017 at Viz.
Incarnate Word Softball will open 2019 in the Rockwood Summit Tournament Aug. 30-31 and the games will be at Chesterfield Athletic Association. On Aug. 30, IWA will play Ursuline Academy at 6:30 and Poplar Bluff at 8:15. On Aug. 31, the Red Knights will play at 10:45 a.m. against Fort Zumwalt North with other games to be determined. The Red Knights were 0-2-1 in 2018, 1-3 in 2017 and 2-2 in 2016.
