Florissant Names Gateway Disposal
As Sold Waste Trash Collector
The City of Florissant has selected Gateway Disposal as the city’s exclusive solid waste trash collector. Gateway Disposal will take on the assignment and assumption of the 2017 Meridian Waste contract with no changes to the current rate that the residents of Florissant are currently paying for trash service.
A press release from the city stated the “principle owners of Gateway Disposal have vast experience and much success in the trash industry and are excited to get the opportunity to provide trash service for the residents of Florissant” There will be no break in service and Gateway Disposal will begin serving the residents on July 1st.
Until further notice, city officials are saying to continue to use Meridian trash containers because the owners of Gateway Disposal are in the process of negotiating an agreement with Meridian to purchase the Meridian’s trash containers. That deal has not been finalized as of yet.
The executive team of Meridian informed city officials that they will start processing refunds on July 1 to those residents who have already made their payment for July, August and September as well as for those that have paid beyond that. It may take up to 30 days to receive the refund.
Gateway Disposal has received the current list of customers so there will be no need to set up new trash service. Anyone with questions, should Gateway Disposal customer service department starting on Tuesday, June 25 at 314-900-2070. The owners of Gateway Disposal said the new invoice for trash service will be sent out sometime in late July.
Mayor Tim Lowery said he “appreciates the cooperation that the city has received with Meridian during this transition,”
