Winners of Hazelwood’s Blue Ribbon Home Awards Honored at City Council Meeting

Winners of the City of Hazelwood’s 2009 Blue Ribbon Home Awards were announced at a recent council meeting at City Hall. In addition to receiving a Blue Ribbon and a Blue Ribbon Home Award plaque during the ceremony, they were invited to a special reception held in their honor afterwards.

The Blue Ribbon Home Award Program was initiated in 1986 by the Hazelwood City Council as a way to honor those residents who maintain their property in an exceptional manner. It is overseen by the City’s Community Enrichment Commission, which selects the homes to be judged for the awards.

“We’re very pleased with how this program has instilled a sense of community pride among our residents to make Hazelwood a place where people can find vibrant neighborhoods and attractive homes that suit any lifestyle and budget. Drive down any street in Hazelwood and you’ll find freshly painted homes with beautiful lawns, trees, landscaping and garden statuary that add a touch of Midwestern charm to our community. Not only do these efforts help add up to 20 percent worth of value to residential properties, but also they make Hazelwood an inviting place for prospective home buyers who are looking to relocate,” said Mayor Matthew Robinson.
