Weekly Recycling Added For Allied Pick-up in Black Jack

In conformity with St. Louis County Solid Waste Ordinances the Black Jack City Council has provided for the collection of recyclables for single-family dwelling unit in the city.

The occupants of each single-family dwelling unit are required to utilize the recyclables collection service selected by the city and contracted with Allied Waste effective Aug. 1, 2009.

Black Jack negotiated the following revised monthly rates for including the recycling service:

8/1/09-6/30/10 $12.89 $20.30

7/1/10-6/30/11 $13.41 $20.98

7/1/11-6/30/12 $13.94 $21.66

7/1/12-6/30/13 $14.50 $22.36

The contract with Allied Waste continues to require the hauler to collect, remove and dispose of household trash, white goods and bulk waste once or twice per week as elected by each resident. The recyclables are to be removed and disposed of once a week. Yard Waste pick-up will continue to be offered as an extra cost option by the hauler

A recycle cart will be provided at no cost to each single-family dwelling unit within the City of Black Jack for the collection of Recycling. The recycling carts are being provided by in part by a grant received by the City from the St. Louis, Jefferson Solid Waste District. The remainder of the carts are being supplied by Allied Waste. City residents may choose not to recycle but you must still carry the service.
