Trinity Boys Track Wins At Lindenwood,

Girls Second To East St. Louis

Trinity Catholic Boys Track and Field, Class Three State Runner Up last year, begins 2019 by winning the Lindenwood University Les Petites High School meet March 23 on the Lindenwood Track in St. Charles.

The Titans scored 115 points to win the meet and finished 41 points ahead of runner up Columbia-Battle. Meanwhile the Titan Girls scored 107 points but that was good enough for second place. East St. Louis, Ill., won the meet with 137.5 points.

Trinity Boys won seven events including two sprint relays, two hurdles and two field events. Junior Thomas Sonntag swept the hurdles winning the 119 meters in 15.59 seconds and led the Titans one-two-three finish in 41.27seconds. Also finishing in the hurdle top three are sophomore Myles Norwood (second-43.57 seconds) and freshman Julian Juszczyk (third-44.63 seconds)

Sonntag joined seniors Isaiah Williams, Kemric Winston and Alphonzo Andrews in winning the 4×100-Meter Relay (43.13 seconds). Andrews, Williams, Winston and senior Paul Reed won the 4×200-Meter relay (1:31.48). Winston won the 200-Meter Dash (22.01 seconds).

In field events, sophomore Malcolm Harvey won the Javelin with a 173’1” throw while Juszczyk was second (168’2”). Senior Dajuan Young leaped 6’3” to win the High Jump.

After finishing third in Class Three State last year the Girls won three field events. Freshman Brooke Moore won the Triple Jump with a 38’3” effort. Senior DeAyvion Smith shared top billing with University City senior Ayanna Allen in the high Jump (5”1”) but Smith won on fewer misses. Sophomore Sydney Juszczyk won the Javelin with a 155-foot throw and took their in the Triple Jump in 35’11.5”.

   McCLUER NORTH BOYS had two sprint winners, senior Kyran Lacy and sophomore Angelo Butts. Lacy sprinted to a win in the 400-Meter Dash in 52.08 seconds. Butts sprinted to a win in 100-Meter Dash in 10.85 seconds.

   INCARNATE WORD ACADEMY junior Scout Regular won the 100-Meterr hurdles in 14.9 seconds and the long jump with a 17’4” effort. HAZELWOOD WEST BOYS got a win from the 4×400 Meter Relay team of Aderius Lambert, Edwin Wangui, Romano Gines and Koby Wojciechowski (3:39.74). IN ADDITION, Lutheran North senior Joshua Hopkins won the Long Jump (21’4”) while McCluer South-Berkeley senior Adrieon Keys won the 800-Meter Run (2:02.35).

   GIRLS LACROSSE: — INCARNATE WORD ACADEMY is off to a 5-1 start prior to playing Nerinx Hall on March 26. IWA won the Parkway Central Tournament on March 16 with wins over Francis Howell Central 4-3, Francis Howell North 4-3 and Parkway Central 14-13 in overtime. After an 11-1 loss March 18 at Westminster Christian Academy the Red Knights won 9-6 March 20 at Belleville, Ill., Township and 12-6 March 22 at Wentzville-Holt.
