Dorsey Announces Write-in Campaign for . . .

Florissant Judge

Judge Boyle Accepts a Job in Oklahoma

Local attorney Mary Elizabeth Dorsey has announced that she will be a write-in candidate for Florissant Municipal Judge in the April 2 election. The campaign is necessary because current Florissant Judge Daniel Boyle has accepted a new job in Oklahoma City.

Dorsey is a 1984 graduate of Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas and a 1987 graduate of St. Louis University School of Law. Since that time she has been in private practice in the St. Louis area. She has also served as a prosecutor in the Forissant Municipal Court since 2006. She also serves as legal counsel to the Friends of Old St.Ferdinand Shrine.

“I’m honored that Judge Boyle has asked me to run, when he decided to accept the position in Oklahoma,” Dorsey stated. “He has been a wonderful, dedicated public servant and I hope that I can do the same. Because the job opportunity for him just came up, we were unable to discuss this before the January deadline for candidate filing, which means that I have a very short time to let people know that I am running.”

Judge Boyle, Tuesday, confirmed the information that he has accepted a job with the State of Oklahoma, but will stay on as Florissant Municipal Judge until March 31.

Mayor Tom Schneider said he has talked to Judge Boyle about his move and resignation and asked for a written notice from him. Judge Boyle said he will be providing a formal written notice to the city on his intentions.

Mayor Schneider said, “On behalf of the City, the mayor expresses gratitude for Judge Boyle’s service to Florissant and wishes all the best for him and his family.”

The mayor said for questions on what affect this will have on the April 2nd election and the ballot for a new city judge, to contact City Clerk Karen Goodwin at (314) 839-7630.

FLORISSANT MUNICIPAL JUDGE DAN BOYLE is moving out-of-town, but his name will still be on the ballot for reelection in the April 2nd Municipal elections. He will remain on the bench until the end of March. At least one candidate is seeking his position through a write-in campaign.
