Hazelwood’s Tribute to . . .

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Jan. 20

mlk dayThe Hazelwood Community Enrichment Commission will be hosting the 17th Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. at Civic Center East, 8969 Dunn Road. The keynote speaker of the program will be Ms. Michelle Tucker, CEO, Epworth Children & Family Services. She began this new role in her career on April 3, 2017 after being with Bank of America for over 20 years.

Tucker served as Senior Vice President and in several other leadership roles that significantly impacted the bank’s local and nation-wide efforts. Tucker has received numerous awards including the Bank of America Spirit Medallion (4x) and their Platinum Award (2x). In addition, she has been a recipient of Business Journal’s Most Influential Diverse Business Leader Award, YWCA Leader of Distinction Award, Urban League’s Women in Leadership Award, and Professional Organization of Women’s Leader of Distinction Award.

Other presenters include Mr. Greg Theron, a local actor/model who is known for his theater accolades including his portrayal of Charlton Tandy, and a performance by The Gentlemen of Vision Step Team.

The 2018 NCUU Oratory Contest Winner Mr. Brice Anderson, a 4th grader from Blossomwood Day School, will be presenting his winning speech. Both Michael Nigh and Ray Higginbotham will be providing the musical entertainment.
