Long-time Sales Rep. For this
Newspaper “Jack” Geary Dies
Funeral services were held Nov. 29 for John “Jack” Geary, known to many in the amateur sports community and the local business community. Mr. Geary died Nov. 19 following a short illness. He was a long-time sales associate with the Journal Newspapers and The Independent News, for the past 30 years.
“Jack was well liked by our many North County business people,” said Publisher Bob Lindsey. “ For months after his retirement in early 2017, his clients would ask how’s our good friend “Jack” doing.” Lindsey said that one day this past summer, his son Bob Geary brought Jack back to the area to see some of his long-time customers. He was a long time North County resident until a few years ago when Jack and his wife Kathleen moved to a condo in southwest St. Louis County. Kathleen died last year and Jack has been residing in an apartment at a retirement care center after he suffered injuries from a fall. The following are from obituary:

Beloved husband of the late Kathleen M. Geary (nee Hogan); loving father of John (Julie) Geary Jr., Judy, Greg, and Daniel Geary, Lisa (Corey) Blaylock and Bob (Phyllis) Geary; devoted grandpa of Joseph and Michael Geary, Rachel and Ethan Blaylock, Emily, Will, and Luke Geary, and the late Aaron Geary; dear great-grandfather of Kyler Geary; dear brother of the late Gloria M. Geary, the late William A. Geary, and the late Elizabeth (Frank) Mininni. Dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
John was a longtime MSHSAA sports official and a HOF member of Greater St. Louis Association of Umpires.
Visitation was at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 17 Ann Ave., 63088, Thursday, Nov. 29, from 10:30 a.m.; funeral Mass at noon. Interment J.B. National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
